Martin Scorsese’s Hugo led the list, with 11 nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Original Score, Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Costume Design, Best Achievement in Film Editing, Best Achievement in Sound Editing, Best Achievement in Sound Mixing, and Best Achievement in Visual Effects.

The 2012 Academy Awards, hosted by Billy Crystal, will air on February 26 on ABC.

The drama centers around Luli (Moretz), “a 13-year-old Nebraskan girl and her hard-going life on the road after she runs away from her neglectful parents and home. She’s taken in by Glenda (Lively), a hard-living grifter who takes her under her wing,” according to The Playlist.

Hick, based on Andrea Portes’ novel of the same name, will be featured at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

She won Biggest Badass Star for her work as ‘Hit Girl’ in Kick-Ass and Best Breakout Star for Kick-Ass and Let Me In.

He’s continuing that trend in a major way with his next feature film Dark Shadows, an adaptation of the 1960s supernatural soap opera. Aside from Depp, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, chameleon Michael Sheen, and Jackie Earle Haley who have already signed on to the film, this week Burton added probably the biggest under-16 star, Chloe Grace Moretz, to the impressive cast that just keeps growing and growing.

Moretz just wrapped up Hugo Cabret with legend Martin Scorsese and is in production on Hick with Alec Baldwin and Blake Lively. Not that we haven’t already been seeing a lot of Moretz, she even appeared on NBC’s 30 Rock a few weeks ago, but it’s safe to say she won’t be going anywhere for a while and that’s alright with me.

Dark Shadows goes into production later this month (moved from its original January start date) and without a doubt is a perfect fit for Burton and Johnny Depp, who has been trying to usher this project to the big screen for quite some time. Described as being “vividly melodramatic”, Shadows should be a perfect fit for the cast as well as Burton whose films always have an over-the-top flare to them. Even the original score has been called “overly adventurous” which plays perfectly into the style of Danny Elfman who will undoubtedly score Burton’s film once again. Expect big, big fun from Dark Shadows upon its release next year.

The 13-year-old breakout star is making enough headlines to book a Martin Scorsese project, I Am Hugo Cabret.

Chloe shares with W magazine, “I was on the computer upstairs and the phone rang, and my mom went, ‘Chloë, come down here, your agent—your people—want to talk to you.’ When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh, my God! No way! This can’t be real right now!’ There I was in pajamas and my dad’s big shirt, and I booked a Martin Scorsese project.”

Martin’s admiration for Chloe is mirrored. “It doesn’t seem like—how should I put it?—a child acting. It doesn’t matter the age. She is an actor, above all. And a very, very good one,” he reveals

Evan Greenberg wrote the script and is directing with Daniel Dubiecki and Joel Michaely producing. Joe Kline will also be involved in some producing capacity.

The story centers on an ambitious, slightly overweight ballerina with an overbearing mother (Bell) who will stop at nothing to become a star. The girl enters a Mean Girls-type environment when she has to prove her worth in class.

Greenberg and the producers spent months trying to cast the lead for the role, which has the potential for a breakout in the way Billy Elliot and Little Miss Sunshine proved a launching point for actors Jamie Bell and Abigail Breslin.

Madison, who appears in the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy Just Go With It as well as the Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, has nabbed the role of the ballerina.

Moretz, the breakout lead of comic book movie Kick-Ass, will play the star ballerina who is Madison’s nemesis. Haley is a subtly sadistic Russian ballet teacher of the highest order.

Mirlitons is on the runway to close the last piece of its funding for a shoot next year.

Moretz, who is currently shooting Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret, is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment. Haley, repped by CAA and Leslie Allan-Rice Management, can currently be seen on TV’s Human Target. Madison is repped Coast to Coast Talent and James/Levy Management

Chloe Moretz still has strict parents.

The 13-year-old actress insists she gets treated just like any other teenager and even gets her favourite possessions taken away from her if she does something wrong.

She said: “I stay grounded through my family – my brother Trevor and my mum come everywhere with me.

“My mum makes sure I’m kept in my place – I just got my computer taken away. She’s strict.”

Chloe also revealed she became interested in pursuing an acting career after helping her brother with his performing arts school homework.

She said: “I got into acting through my brother Trevor – he was accepted into a performing arts school in New York and I caught the bug when I was running through lines with him. Now he’s my coach.”

Despite insisting she is a normal teenager, the ‘Let Me In’ star admits her life has got “weirder” since she found fame.

She added: “Life is definitely a little bit crazy. There are more weird fans, more paparazzi.

“I’m cool with it on the red carpet, but when you’re in the car and a camera is shoved against the window and you can’t see – that’s when it’s a bit dangerous, that’s when I get freaked out.”
