Some news/gossip here: http://www.shockya.com/news/2010/08/01/chloe-moretz-has-her-eye-on-the-hunger-games-film-adaptation/ - about Chloë really wanting to be in the film adaptation of the "The Hunger Games" although no film development seems to happening right now according to the article but it sounds like Lionsgate might get that going soon.
I really really want to be in it....I would so so so so so love to be in this film....It would be such an honor to be in it.

I'd never even heard about this book so I had to consult trusty wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunger_Games).
(from wikipedia) The Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the ruthless and evil Capitol randomly selects one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, who are then pitted against each other in a game of survival and forced to kill until only one remains.

Sounds like a role for Hit-Girl. The book's heroine is 16 years old so there is plenty of time for Chloë to star in the film.

Has anyone here read the book? What do you think about a film adaptation?

Thanks! Maybe I'm in the right timezone. North America is falling asleep after updating their websites and the UK is still waking up.

Hmmmm yes I remember reading this a couple of days ago but had no idea what was this The Hunger Games was. I too haven't heard of this book there for hadn't read it either :P But should Chloë take this role? I don't know, it's too early too tell with the limited info that we have right now. But she really seem to be heading into these darker roles more than the funnier ones. Don't get me wrong, these darker roles sound great but I really do enjoy a role that can get my to laugh. Only film that she's got lined up that will cover this is Mixtape. Call me a sucker , but I just hate the thought of having Chloë die in this The Hunger Games :P, I would rather have her be the survivor :D

I'll buy this book. I love these kind of stories.

But the concepts of the story is not that unique. Post apocalyptic future, Fight to the Death scenarios, Governments that has absolute power, etc, etc.

Maybe it will make up for the story telling and plot.

It will be a good role for Chloe if you ask me.

If you're gonna buy the book, just keep in mind that I think that it's a 3 part book lol It's gonna be quite a read indeed!

So I read the Hunger Games (the 1st book). My reaction: Oh..My..God..what a great story and what an amazing film this would be. And everything about the character of Katniss Everdeen has Chloë Moretz written all over it. I just hope there will be an opportunity for her to go for this role. A film like "The Rut" sounds like a pale comparison to something as epic as this which reads like "Hard Target", "Running Man" and the Big Brother house rolled into one but starring teenagers.

It wasn't as violent as I expected because most of the players in the game are just kids trying to not get killed rather than kill but here's an excerpt when Katniss is defending another girl that she's befriended:
The boy from District 1 dies before he can pull out the spear. My arrow drives deeply into the center of his neck. He falls to his knees and halves the brief remainder of his life by yanking out the arrow and drowning in his own blood. I’m reloaded, shifting my aim from side to side, while I shout at Rue, “Are there more? Are there more?”

You get the idea but it's also a love story with Katniss trying to work out her feelings towards two boys (yes, Edward and Jacob style). There's a good article about how the Hunger Games could be the next Twilight series here:
