Good luck. I'm a little bit sad that it seems that they don't come to Germany to have a Premiere here. And I haven't got the time to come to London. :(

I have seen Dark Shadows. Won a pass to the premiere last night. In a nutshell, I enjoyed it very very much. It really isn't so much a comedy--at least not like Vampires Suck or even Young Frankenstein. It feels a lot more like Sleepy Hollow. The cast give wonderful performances, and capture a lot of the original series' "feel". Given the venue, I will particularly praise the dynamic between Elizabeth (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her daughter Carolyn (Chloe Grace Moretz), especially with the latter as this seemingly hardcore hippie wannabe. The way she puts on a record and dances is a trip. So too is her manner around Depp's Barnabas.

Now...spoilers.
Spoiler!

Anyway, I liked it a lot and recommend it for any with a love of the spooky and kind ookey.

Just read a review that rips the movie to shreds. Don't have a good feeling about this one either.

As I mentioned in the other thread, glad to see someone liked it, as it's getting awful reviews on RT at the moment.

Dunno if you mention it in your review - didn't read it as I don't wanna spoil anything (but will read if after I see the movie this sunday) - but how big or small is Chloë's role in this movie?

I know she is not one of the main characters - but is her screen time like 500 days of summer small - or big like Hugo (doubt it)?

And how would you rate Chloë's performance - again without trying to spoil anything ;)

This guy didn't hate it but was still disappointed. He did compliment Chloe, however:

However, the standout female role has to go to Chloe Moretz, the spoilt teenage daughter who typifies what it was to be young in the culturally-confused era of the 1970s.

Also saw another scathing review as well one that gave it 3 out of 4 stars.

I would say Carolyn is an important supporting character. She has slightly less screentime (by my rough estimate) than Michelle Pfeiffer or Helena Bonham Carter, but only slightly. The film in many ways centers around the Collins family and she is one of only five members of that clan. Mostly she interacts with others in the family, with a very interesting dynamic between herself and Pfeiffer who plays her mother. If indeed there is a sequel, much could be made of that.

Her performance, like the rest of the cast, is excellent. One gets a sense of all kinds of things going on behind her eyes, all sorts of issues and frankly sometimes startling reactions to things.

As for the reviews, I'll point out that Alice in Wonderland received very mixed reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 51%. But it went on to make over a billion dollars. I saw it, loved it, and for the record I've read plenty of positive comments.
