Chloës future roles?

Postby Rebecca » Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:05 am

I was just thinking about Chloë, well duh, when doesn't I?
Kidding, but we have all seen Chloë in these teen/kid-roles, right? So I was thinking what roles Chloë will get in a few years because she is not a kid any more. I would like to hear from you that got a lot more knowledge about her then I do.

Discussion paper: What roles do you think Chloë will have the next five years? Do you think she will be the main role in a movie sometime, and what kind of movie? Beside the acting, do you think she will do something else, like modelling and singing? Also, feel free to expand the discussion with your own questions and discussion.

My own reflections: She has always had these small roles as a kid or a teenager (Hugo, Hick, 500 days of summer, LMI, Kick ass, Jack and the beanstalk and The eye for example), it may be obvious because she is a teenager but sometimes there's 15-20 year old actors who got the adult/grown up-role. Callan McAuliffe, Laura Marano and Zach Mills are great example of teenagers having these kind of roles. I think Chloë is just perfect for the roles she had over the past years but soon she can't have these roles and we will see another side of her, like the moviestar, you can't complain about her now because she's just 'a kid' - yeah, that's what I've heard before...

Well, she likes roles that are challenging for her. I'd wager a guess that - in the next 5 years - she might end up with an Oscar nominated role, as diverse as her role selection has been up to now. :)

Well in most of these "kid" roles she plays are of an awesome young or teen girl who isn't afraid to show a bit of "masculinity" or grittiness versus being the "pretty lady" or "dame in distress." Even in Hugo where she does play a bit more a dame she still has that need for adventure and all, she is definitely an active character in all of her roles who wants something. She isn't the passive girl who goes along for the ride. At least in what I've seen of Chloe.

What I see for her next, she will continue being a younger teen and "tween" who has that similar type of role where she will be the strong feminine character (and this can be done whether it is an action feel or a drama or comedy) that can save their male counterparts and doesn't need rescuing, or at least not as easily. She will probably be a sort of Jessica Biel or Angelina Jolie, which she has mentioned as her inspiration before.

Like if Chloe was 30 years old right now the type of film roles I see her in would be like, Catwoman in TDKR or even as that Swedish girl from Sherlock Holmes II or even as The Black Widow in Avengers / Iron Man 2.

As for her being in the main role it depends really. Unfortunately most films have a main male role and usually the main female role is supporting the male. Look at Angelina Jolie again and even in films like Wanted she was the main female role but still not the protagonist. I think Chloe will fall among those lines of being the principal female (like she was in Hugo and Let Me In) and being the protagonist every once in a while in a good female role kind of like Milla Jovovich in Ultra Violet or those Resident Evil movies (another example of how I think Chloe may turn out)

all in all Chloe is going to certainly succeed. It's so exciting!

So you think she will take these "challenging roles" in the future? I agree, her roles has been quite hard, which makes her so good on what she is doing! BTW, I also believe she's getting one of those Oscars very soon :D

Very interesting analysing from you I must say! I took a paragraph which was really interesting according to me. Milla Jovovich really got that Bad-ass role not like the real superhero. Not so realistic and like an actionhero. Zoe Saldana in 'Colombiana' is truly a bad-ass actionhero which I don't think Chloë will end up like. Just see her in 'Kick Ass', she's so perfect! But! After a few years, she can't be the cute bad-ass any more, so that's why I think she will get roles like Jovovich and not like Saldana. That's just me thinking loud though. I choose Ultra Violet over 'Colombiana' so perhaps the roles will flood. 'Resident Evil' is also a great example of roles that fits for Chloë when she's getting older.

> Continue: How about the teen roles? Like in 'Hick' and 'American Pie'?(can't figure out other because I hate those kind of movies, but you understand what I mean) Will there be more of these roles?

I remember reading that Zoe Saldana looked ridiculous in Colombiana. I found it, here it is: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/20 ... stars.html
I think Chloë's a lot more action star. :) Has more muscles than most adult females in hollywood.

I have no real preferrences for what kinds of roles, I would like to see Chloë in.

All I wish for is roles that are deeper than the usually teenage girl (stupid blond girl just there for selling movie tickets and showing her figure) or damsel in distress roles.

I'm sure that Chloë got the talent for both clever roles, scary movies, action roles, funny roles or even strange roles (like tim burton/johnny deep roles).

A more important thing is also going for more lead roles and less supporting roles, which should be less of a problem now that she is getting alot of attention and have shown great potential and promise as an actress.

I think Chloe is an all-round actress. I can imagine her in an action role like in Kick-Ass but also in a dramatic role or maybe in a comedy role. But it's very important what she can do with such a role - if the script is bad she couldn't do a lot against. But with a good script, good co-actors and a good director she can play different roles. In my oppinion she's not an actress who is specialiced in one genre.
(If you look at Milla Jovovich: She only plays action roles, I have never seen her in other genres, and that's the big difference between her and Chloe).
And for me it's only a question of time when Chloe will be nominated for an Oscar and will get one.
