Hick going to Cannes!

Content Films has picked up the international film rights for Hick. They'll be showing a teaser trailer at Cannes next week! ...the above link doesn't mention this, but other sites, like this one, do: http://www.worldscreen.com/articles/display/29712

What's interesting to me are the descriptions given of the film:

""It's a hard hitting coming of age pull no punches journey and a slap in the face wake up call that when the world hammers you down and you're born into nothing, you may just choose not to accept it."

and

The Official Hick Synopsis:
"Hick is a stylish, often funny and a heartfelt coming-of-age story about 13 year old Luli's life on the road. Whatever is thrown at young Luli only makes her stronger and more defiant, and yet somehow she is able to remain undefeated and undeterred from her goal for a better life. It is this courage that makes Hick an incredible story and an inspiration to all."

Sounds like they're trying to spin it into being more insperational than edgy-gritty, or they did a substantial re-working of the novel, which I heard is full of r---, violence, drug-use, twisted people and motives, ect. I guess we'll see! Either way, hope we get to see some footage soon!

not much news on this movie yet, i wonder if we'll have to wait till 2012 to see it... till then at least we have the Hugo Cabret film in November to look forward too...
